Itinerary

01

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our friendly management team members will be there to receive you with a warm welcome. If you are arriving Nepal for the first time, Kathmandu can feel overwhelming at first, the crowds, traffic, and fast-paced hustle might surprise you. But as you begin to explore, you’ll soon discover that beneath the surface lies a city full of rich culture, history, and hidden gems waiting to be appreciated. The blend of ancient temples, colorful markets, and spiritual ambiance makes Kathmandu a unique and unforgettable place. From the airport, we’ll drive you comfortably to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, we will arrange a short briefing to prepare you for your trek. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, we’ll organize an orientation meeting in the evening. During this session, our company representative and your guide will give you a final briefing about the trek, answer any questions, and make sure you’re ready for the journey ahead. If your flight arrives later in the day, we’ll hold the briefing the next morning after breakfast or at evening after full-day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley.

Day 2 : Full-day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley / Duration: 8-9 hrs

After breakfast, we begin our full-day cultural exploration of Kathmandu. We start with a pleasant 20-minute walk to Basantapur Durbar Square. Although driving is an option, we recommend walking so you can experience the vibrant street life and witness the daily activities of the Newar community—one of the Indigenous groups of the Kathmandu Valley, known for their rich culture, art, and architecture. At Basantapur Durbar Square, we explore the entire palace complex, which is filled with centuries-old temples, courtyards, and historical monuments. One of the highlights here is a visit to the Kumari palace, living goddess worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhists. Next, we take a short drive through our private vehicle to Swayambhunath Stupa also known as the Monkey Temple. Situated at top of the hill, this ancient stupa offers a panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley. On clear days, you can even see the distant snowcapped Himalayan peaks. We then head to Boudhanath Stupa, about a 30-minute drive depending on traffic. Boudhanath is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its peaceful atmosphere and vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture. We enjoy lunch at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the stupa, soaking in the serene energy of the area. Our final stop is Pashupatinath Temple Complex, the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple complex is not only a place of worship but also a center for Hindu cremation rituals and spiritual gatherings. After a fulfilling day of sightseeing, we drive back to the hotel to rest and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 3: Drive to Ramechhap, Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,610m) / Duration: Drive: 5-6 hrs, Trek: 3-4 hrs

Early in the morning, we take a packed breakfast and leave our hotel for the drive to Ramechhap Airport. On the way, we stop for a quick roadside breakfast before continuing our journey. Once we reach Ramechhap, we board a small aircraft for an early morning flight to Lukla. These planes don’t have assigned seat numbers, so we recommend choosing a seat on the left side or just behind the pilot to enjoy the most stunning panoramic views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks and the dramatic Lukla runway as we approach. After a short, scenic flight, we land in Lukla, where we meet our porters and enjoy a warm cup of tea. We also take a short time to explore Lukla, take photos near the iconic runway, and soak in the mountain atmosphere. Then we begin our trek. Today’s walk is easy, we pass through charming Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges, and walk through peaceful forests. Along the trail, we see colorful prayer flags and Mani stones etched with Buddhist prayers. After about 4 hours of gentle hiking, we reach Phakding, a beautiful riverside village.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) / Duration: 7-8 hrs

Today’s journey takes us deep into the Khumbu region as we trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the vibrant heart of the Sherpa community. The trail begins gently as we follow the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several exciting suspension bridges draped with prayer flags. As we continue, we pass small settlements and enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where our permits are checked. From here, the trail gets steeper. One of the highlights is crossing the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge, the highest and most famous in the region. The final climb to Namche is tough but rewarding, with switchbacks through a pine forest. If the weather is clear, we may catch our first glimpse of Mount Everest in the distance. Namche Bazaar appears like a hidden amphitheater carved into the mountainside. It’s the perfect place to rest and get a feel for the unique blend of Sherpa culture and mountain life. After the long climb, we’ll be glad to explore the colorful town and rest up for tomorrow’s acclimatization.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche / Duration: 5-6 hrs

To help our bodies adjust to the altitude, we spend today acclimatizing in and around Namche Bazaar. While we don’t trek far, we still climb to a higher elevation and return to sleep lower, which is an effective way to prevent altitude sickness. After breakfast, we set off on a short hike to the Everest View Hotel, one of the highest hotels in the world. From here, we enjoy stunning panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and the beautiful Ama Dablam. We then continue toward the traditional Sherpa village of Khumjung, where we visit the local monastery and the school built by Sir Edmund Hillary. From Khumjung, we make our way to Khunde village, home to the famous Khunde Hospital, a facility established with Hillary’s support and specially focused on treating high-altitude illnesses. After exploring the area, we return to Namche Bazaar for a restful afternoon. Those who wish can visit the Sherpa Culture Museum or enjoy some quiet time at a local café with fresh coffee and pastries. Today’s slower pace allows us to absorb the beauty of the Khumbu region while supporting safe acclimatization for the days ahead.

Day 6- Trek to Phortse (3,800m) / Duration: 6-7 hrs

The trail climbs gradually out of Namche, offering spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. As we walk along the hillside through rhododendron and pine forests, we reach Sanasa, where the trail splits. Here, one trail leads to Tengboche Monastery, but we take the quieter route toward Phortse. After some uphill walking, we arrive at Mong Danda, a beautiful ridge-top village known for its stupa and panoramic Himalayan views. We stop here for lunch, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and stunning scenery. After lunch, we descend through forested slopes with occasional views of distant peaks, and then begin a steady climb through terraced hillsides and quiet trails. In the late afternoon, we reach the charming Sherpa village of Phortse, tucked against the mountainside.

Day 7- Trek to Dingboche (4,410m) / Duration: 4-5 hrs

Today, we leave the quiet village of Phortse and begin our trek along gentle hillsides that offer stunning views of towering peaks like Ama Dablam and Taboche. As we continue, we arrive at Pangboche, one of the oldest and most famous Sherpa villages in the Everest region. Pangboche is well known for its ancient monastery, which holds sacred Buddhist relics and serves as a spiritual center for the local Sherpa community. Here, we can take a moment to appreciate the rich culture and deep religious traditions that have been preserved for centuries. Leaving Pangboche, the trail leads us past several smaller villages with traditional stone houses, fluttering prayer flags, and peaceful yak pastures. We cross gentle streams and gradually climb higher into the alpine landscape, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and the fresh, crisp air of the high Himalayas. We arrive at Dingboche in the late midday and, to aid acclimatization, we hike about 200-300m higher before returning to Dingboche to rest. This helps our bodies adjust as we prepare for the higher altitudes ahead.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day, Hike Chhukung or Nangkarsang Peak (5080m) / Duration: 5-7 hrs

Today is an important rest and acclimatization day in Dingboche to help our bodies adjust to the high altitude. We take a short and scenic hike to support the acclimatization process. One option is a walk toward the Chhukung Valley (4,715m), while another is a hike up to Nangkarsang Peak (5,080m) for even more stunning views. The trail rises steadily through dry and rocky terrain, and though it’s not very steep, the high altitude can make walking more tiring. So we take it slow, drink plenty of water, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. As we hike, we’re rewarded with incredible views of some of the most famous Himalayan peaks — Island Peak, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and even distant Makalu. After reaching our viewpoint, we take time to soak in the breathtaking scenery before descending slowly back to Dingboche.

As we continue, the trail begins to climb steeply toward Thukla Pass, where we will encounter chortens adorned with prayer flags. These memorials honor the brave climbers who lost their lives on Everest region during climbing period. The trail offers a peaceful yet reflective atmosphere, as we pay tribute to those who sacrificed everything in pursuit of their dreams. After a steady climb, we reach Lobuche where we have lunch and hike for about 200-300m higher for acclimatization and back to Lobuche.

Although the trek is not very long, it is challenging but rewarding because of the high altitude. After a short rest and lunch in Gorak Shep, we’ll continue our day hike to Everest Base Camp. The trail is rocky and follows the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. Along the way, we’ll see ice towers and amazing glacier formations. When we finally arrive at Everest Base Camp, it will feel like a dream come true. We’ll be standing at the foot of the world’s highest mountain! Although we can only see some glimpses of Everest from Everest Base Camp, the surroundings are stunning and full of energy. During climbing season, we might see colorful tents of expedition teams. After spending time enjoying the views and taking photos, we’ll return to Gorak Shep for the night.
