Itinerary

01

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, one of our friendly management team members will be there to receive you with a warm welcome. If you are arriving Nepal for the first time, Kathmandu can feel overwhelming at first, the crowds, traffic, and fast-paced hustle might surprise you. But as you begin to explore, you’ll soon discover that beneath the surface lies a city full of rich culture, history, and hidden gems waiting to be appreciated. The blend of ancient temples, colorful markets, and spiritual ambiance makes Kathmandu a unique and unforgettable place. From the airport, we’ll drive you comfortably to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, we will arrange a short briefing to prepare you for your trek. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, we’ll organize an orientation meeting in the evening. During this session, our company representative and your guide will give you a final briefing about the trek, answer any questions, and make sure you’re ready for the journey ahead. If your flight arrives later in the day, we’ll hold the briefing the next morning after breakfast or at evening after full-day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley.

Day 2: Full-day Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley (1,350m) / Duration: 8-9 hrs

After breakfast, we begin our full-day cultural exploration of Kathmandu. We start with a pleasant 20-minute walk to Basantapur Durbar Square. Although driving is an option, we recommend walking so you can experience the vibrant street life and witness the daily activities of the Newar community—one of the Indigenous groups of the Kathmandu Valley, known for their rich culture, art, and architecture. At Basantapur Durbar Square, we explore the entire palace complex, which is filled with centuries-old temples, courtyards, and historical monuments. One of the highlights here is a visit to the Kumari palace, living goddess worshipped by both Hindus and Buddhists. Next, we take a short drive through our private vehicle to Swayambhunath Stupa also known as the Monkey Temple. Situated at top of the hill, this ancient stupa offers a panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley. On clear days, you can even see the distant snowcapped Himalayan peaks. We then head to Boudhanath Stupa, about a 30-minute drive depending on traffic. Boudhanath is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its peaceful atmosphere and vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture. We enjoy lunch at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the stupa, soaking in the serene energy of the area. Our final stop is Pashupatinath Temple Complex, the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple complex is not only a place of worship but also a center for Hindu cremation rituals and spiritual gatherings. After a fulfilling day of sightseeing, we drive back to the hotel to rest and prepare for the journey ahead.

We walk beside the Buri Gandaki River, passing through villages like Rana and Bihi Phedi. Along the way, we notice changes in the landscape and culture. The dense forest opens up into wider paths with fields of barley and wheat. The people here look more Tibetan, and we see Buddhist decorations like chortens, prayer flags, and mani walls. The trail passes through forests filled with fir, oak, and rhododendron trees, and the sound of birds and flowing water is always around us. We might see gray langurs playing in the trees or mules carrying supplies. After a long walk and a final steep climb, we arrive in Namrung, a village with stone houses and beautiful views. This is a good place to rest, enjoy the mountain scenery, and take in the rich local culture.

The villages here are characterized by stone houses with shared roofs, and the locals wear traditional Tibetan chubas, thick woolen robes. In the fields, we get chance to see elevated platforms used as watchtowers, where locals stay overnight to protect their crops from bears. After walking for 5 hours, we reach Lho (3,180m), a lively village with a new chorten and a small gumba (monastery). We can enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets over Manaslu and Manaslu North from our stay.

Day 8: Trek to Samagaon (3,530m) / Duration: 3-4 hrs

We begin our walk with stunning views of the majestic Himalchuli (7,893 m) and Ngadi Chuli (7,879 m). After trekking for about four hours, we reach our lunch and day destination in the village of Samagaon (3,530 m). From this point, we can clearly see the gumba in the distance which is at the edge of the village. Samagaon is a spacious village set in the valley, and at this altitude, the residents primarily grow potatoes and barley, as these are the only crops that thrive in such high-altitude conditions. The villagers also raise herds of yaks and a few horses, which are essential to their way of life. Weaving is an important part of the local economy here, and we’ll have the chance to watch women expertly working on traditional looms, creating woven items that are vital to their culture and livelihood. Surrounded by serene and picturesque landscapes, Samagaon offers an intriguing glimpse into the local way of life, making it a memorable stop on our trek.

Day 9: Acclimatization day in Samagaon (3,530m)

Today is an acclimatization day in Samagaon. The best way to adjust to the altitude is by staying active, and a great option is a day hike to Manaslu Base Camp. This is quite a long walk that takes around 9 to 10 hours round trip. The trail climbs steadily and offers stunning views of snowy peaks, glaciers, and the wide mountain valley. If we feel the hike is too demanding, we can choose a shorter option and visit the beautiful Mahendra Lake instead. The lake is surrounded by rocky cliffs and snowy ridges, and its calm, icy waters reflect the mountains above. Whether we go all the way to base camp or return halfway, this hike helps our bodies get used to the higher elevation. It also gives us the chance to enjoy the peaceful beauty of this remote mountain area. Staying active without overexerting ourselves is the key to a safe and comfortable journey ahead.

Day 10: Trek to Samdo (3,690m) / Duration: 3-5 hrs

Today, we walk through picturesque birch forests, making our way to Samdo (3,860 m), which is just about 4-hour trek. As we walk, we’re treated to breathtaking mountain views that enhance the experience. The trail leads us across the river via a small bridge and rocks, continuing along the left side of the long mani walls at Kermo Kharka. After a short while, we’ll spot the entrance chorten of Samdo, majestically perched on a cliff. This marks the arrival at Samdo, a peaceful village known for its rich Tibetan culture. The village offers a unique opportunity to learn about the traditional Tibetan way of life, including their customs, lifestyle, and beliefs. The serene environment and the authentic local atmosphere make Samdo a perfect place to immerse ourselves in the Tibetan heritage while surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the region. It’s a wonderful place to pause and soak in the surroundings before continuing our trek.

Day 11: Trek to Dharamsala (4,460m) / Duration:4-5 hrs

After breakfast in Samdo, we begin our gradual trek toward Dharmasala, also known as Larke Phedi. The trail starts with a gentle descent and crosses a wooden bridge over the Buri Gandaki River. From there, we follow a steady uphill path with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and barren high-altitude landscape. Along the way, we may see blue sheep grazing on the slopes and enjoy the peaceful silence of the remote Himalayan wilderness. After around 4 to 5 hours of walking, we reach Dharmasala, a small and basic place that acts as the final overnight stop before crossing the Larke La Pass. There are only a few guesthouses here with very limited capacity. During busy seasons, if the number of trekkers exceeds the available rooms, we may need to spend the night in tents. However, we always try to book accommodation in advance before reaching Dharmasala to make sure we have a place to stay. We rest early tonight to get ready for the big day ahead.

Day 12: Trek to Bimtang (3,720m) / Duration: 7-9 hrs

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of our trek, as we cross the Larke La Pass (5,106 m), the highest point of the Manaslu Circuit. We start early in the morning, usually before sunrise, to avoid strong afternoon winds at the pass. The trail climbs gradually over rocky and snowy terrain. We walk slowly and steadily, taking frequent short breaks to rest and enjoy the views. As we approach the top, colorful prayer flags welcome us at Larke La Pass, where we’re rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. It’s a special moment and a great achievement to stand here. After spending some time at the pass, we begin a long and steep descent toward Bimthang. The trail is rocky and can be slippery, especially if there is snow. As we descend, the landscape changes soon we’re walking past open slopes and into alpine forests.

Day 13: Trek to Goa (2,515m) / Duration: 4-6 hrs

Today, we leave Bimthang and begin our descent toward the lower valley. After breakfast, we start walking downhill through open meadows with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The morning light creates a magical atmosphere. The trail leads us gently through rhododendron and pine forests. As we lose altitude, the temperature becomes warmer, and the greenery returns. We cross a wooden bridge and continue along a well-marked path through the forest. Around midday, we stop in the small settlement of Kharche for a lunch break and to rest before continuing our trek. This path is very beautiful, so we take more time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the natural scenery as we walk. After lunch, the trail descends further before climbing slightly to reach the quiet village of Goa. Goa is a charming place surrounded by terraced fields and peaceful natural surroundings. After arriving in Goa, we rest and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s a relaxing end to the day after crossing the high pass the day before, giving us time to recover and appreciate the beauty of the valley.

We pass through lush green landscapes, peaceful streams, and vibrant rhododendron forests. The trail is mostly downhill and easy to follow. Along the way, we pass through the village of Tilije, where Tibetan influence can still be seen in the architecture and prayer flags. From Tilije, the path gradually descends further through small settlements until we reach Thonje. Here, we go through a final checkpoint before officially entering the Annapurna region. Just a short walk past Thonje brings us to Dharapani, a lively junction village where the Annapurna and Manaslu trails meet. Dharapani has good guesthouses, shops, and even access to vehicles. We notice a change in the trail's atmosphere as it becomes busier with other trekkers and locals.
